Jesse “Captain” Johnson

In the early chapters, co-formed  in 1970 “Soul Experience”, and

worked with r&b, jazz and blues   fixtures from  Ruby Andrews through  Isaac  Redd Holt.

Middle Chapters found  Jesse recruited by the legendary “Fenton Robinson” and exposed to the blues from the root up. Nightly and daily learning sessions while on and off the road led to additional  work with many of Chicago’s blues greats;  Phil  Guy, Jr. Wells, Buddy Guy, Smokey Smothers, Dave Wells, Lefty Dizz and on and on. The middle chapters also led to Jesse’s  exposure to one of Chicago’s greatest guitarists, Mr. Doug McDonald and through that 25 year union  the co-forming of “The Blue Mirror Band”. Jesse has appeared at many of the summer festivals and along with Mr. McDonald has worked at various venues, such as;  House of Blues , Blues Chicago, Famous Dave’s, Blues, The Kingston Mines, Buddy Guy’s Legends, KO KO Taylor’s, and many, many more of Chicago’s best as well as many of the nations premier blues establishments from Main Street to Beale Street and all in between.

Health reasons and Injuries led to Jesse’s semi retirement  in 2007 and a constant invitation from many of Chicago’s great musicians and their support has led to his return, along  with Randy Ford,  at the helm of “Soul Experience” again.

The final chapter is being written by you! Whether you scream, support or hire it’s all up to you.
